Members present: Brad Carlson, Ken Cooksey, Desiree Goettlicker, Jody Greenslade, Bev Griffin, Derk Hansen, Hud Heidlebaugh, Sheila Shelton, Gary Spessard, Andy Street, Mary and Rick Stuve, Mary Tulp
Sheriff Andy Street convened the meeting at 6:47 p.m.
Treasurer’s report: Balance as of Feb. 1, 2007 was $3709.54. Jody said that some members have not paid dues for 2007.
Safety Officer’s report: No report.
Old Business:
- Holiday party: By all accounts, the party was a great success, and the Mill Street Tavern location was quite acceptable.
- Sound system: A lively discussion about sound systems ensued, much of it covering old ground. The resulting consensus focused on the desirability of having a system that is both powerful and portable. Derk said that he would report back on possible such systems at the March meeting.
New Business:
- Kenyon Sleigh and Cutter Parade: Derk, Jody, and Bev plan to have the stagecoach at this event. It would be nice if at least six members could attend the event on February 24 to hand out flyers and perhaps ride in the parade. Last year there was a brief shootout with the James-Younger Gang.
- Waseca Sleigh and Cutter Festival: We went over plans for skits and the schedule for the event on February 10. Members present stressed that it was very important that participating COWS members arrive at the fairgrounds in Waseca well before 11:00 a.m. (even better before 10:30) so that there is time to go over the skits before our events begin.
- McGregor Traders Jubilee: We discussed the possibility of reserving a table for the club and whether the club should pay for the cost of the table. We decided to discuss this again at the next meeting.
- Buffalo Bill Days in Lanesboro: There is some uncertainty about COWS participation in this event because our sponsor there sold his bar. Stay tuned.
- Future meetings at the Mill Street Tavern: We discussed the possibility of holding COWS meetings at this establishment. The proprietors are interested in having us, there is plenty of space for meeting, and the overall location is desirable. No decision was made, but discussion will continue.
- Individualized buttons: Mary Tulp passed around samples of buttons, on which pictures of members could appear. If interested, e-mail Mary your picture in .jpg format.
Meeting adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
