Deputy Sheriff Gordy Heis called the meeting to order at 7 pm.
OLD BUSINESS:
Holiday Party:
- COW'S holiday party 2/19/2008 was well attended by 43 people. Mill Street atmosphere was great. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.
- Club dedication awards for the year were presented by Gordy Heis to Brad Carlson, Mike and Lori Schroeder and Rick and Mary Stuve. Thank you for all your extra efforts.
- The Dale Jones traveling memorial trophy was presented by last years recipient, Hud Heidlebaugh to Gordy Heis for 2008. Gordy is one of the original members of COW'S and has been a solid member for many years. Congratulations Gordy.
- Entertainment was exceptional this year. A special thanks to Bev Griffin who gave a great performance of 1800's style belly dancing. A recreation of an actual 1870's dancer in Tombstone, AZ. by the name of Fatima. Nice job!
- A special thank you to Shelia Shelton for singing along with her son in law Trevor Brooke (from JACK FM 104.1) who sang and played acoustic guitar. Thanks to Steve Lonn who joined in and sang a few tunes also.
- The headliner of the evening was Magic Mark Sampson. Mark is a former David Copperfield employee. He performed magical illusions for an hour with dove's, card's, scarves, coins and cups and balls to mention a few. The intense act of sawing Angie Stuve in half(the daughter of Rick and Mary Stuve) left only temporary side affects. Thank you, Mark.
- A special thank you to Mary Stuve for planning and organizing this event.
Safety Report:
- Mike Kinzell safety officer discussed the danger of big gun loads inside buildings. The noise factor is critical especially now that we are having more requests for indoor skits. Forty Five .209 shot gun primers will be used in the near future. The sound will be louder than a regular primer but not as loud as a full 45 load.
NEW BUSINESS:
- Waseca, MN. Sleigh and Cutter parade coming up February, 9th, 2008. Participants meet at the Fairgrounds in Waseca at 11:00 for coffee and review of plans for reenactments for the day. 12:15 PM skit at Senior Citizen Center. 1:00 PM street skit before the parade. COW'S participants will not be in the parade itself. After the parade meet back at the Fairgrounds for lunch. The additional skit schedule will vary from this point. The following places are expecting a performance: Nursing home for the residents, Club 57 bar VFW and possible skit at the Box Car bar near end of the day. Skits are lined up for each venue at this time. Any questions check with Andy Street or Ken Cooksey.
- Gordy Heis brought up the issue of distance and travel time to events. The price of gas and varied home base of members needs to be thought about before agreeing to preform at an event. Cannon Falls would be designated as the home base for COW'S. The closer we can keep the venue the better.
- Gordy has been looking into an event at the Buffalo Ranch around River Falls, WI. for the first weekend of October. More details to follow.
- April 4,5,6, 2008: Traders Jubilee in McGregor,Iowa. Activities are scheduled at a new and bigger locations this year. Check the website at Traders Jubilee McGregor, Iowa for details if attending.
- The Waseca Sleigh and Cutter venue had a small attendance due to the bitter cold. Details at next meeting at:
Kings Bar, Meisville, Mn.
