Niether Andy Street or Mike Schroeder were present and had requested by e-mail that Hud run the meeting. The meeting came to order at 7 pm.
Treasurer's Report: Hud reported a balance of $3236.43 after the following transactions:
- Paid $25 to the MN Secretary of State to file a Certificate of Assumed Name. This officially changes the club name from H.B.C.O.W.S. to Cannon Old West Society. This resulted during the update of the signature card at the bank from Jody to Hud.
- Paid $100 cleaning deposit to the Mill Street Tavern in Cannon Falls to reserve 1/19/08 for our holiday party.
- Re-embursed Mike S. for powder and caps.
- Deposited various amounts collected from dues and hat sales.
Safety Report: Mike K. agreed to present a year-end inventory at the next meeting and determine our ammo needs for next year. Safety during indoor shooting scenarios was discussed and it was decided that full 5-in-1 loads were not acceptable but .22s and primers might not be loud enough. 5-in-1 half-loads were discussed as a possibility. Mike will look into other possible options. The importance of continuing our mandatory safety training meeting was discussed and that it should include indoor shooting requirements. No date has been set for the 2008 meeting.
Old Business:
There was more discussion as to how feasible it would be to make the Mabel event into a 2-day commitment. So far, we have verbally committed to Saturday for 2008
but they would like us to be there on Sunday, too. This will be discussed more over the winter.
Progress on the holiday party was discussed. The date is set for 1/19/08 and the non-refundable deposit has been paid. It was decided that the club would cover the cost of the deposit and entertainment and that members will be responsible for the cost of the meal. Based on low attendance at recent meetings, it was decided to get member commitment for attending the party before making final decisions on menu and
entertainment. So far, possibilities for entertainment include piano music, singers and a magician. Minimal interest in attendance would result in minimizing costs. Likewise, bigger attendance would result in a bigger party. Please indicate your interest in attending to Mary Stuve by e-mail (ricktoons@yahoo.com) or phone (507-280-0814) before the next meeting (12/06/07).
New Business:
It was decided that we should return to having a Recorder position to take notes rather than have the Deputy do it.
Due to small attendance, voting for officers was done by show-of-hands, finger-pointing and arm-wrestling. Officers for the next year are as follows:
- ASSISTANT SAFETY - Hud Heidlebaugh
- EVENT PLANNER - Mary Stuve
New Members Welcomed:
- Dave Stuve (Rick's brother)
- Mark Sampson (professional magician for 35 years)
There was some discussion as to how the club would maintain communications regarding newsletters, news alerts and the website. Dave S. has shown interest in
helping out in this but the posse will have to communicate with Jody first to determine just what tasks we need to take responsibility for.
Meeting adjourned at 8pm.
